In Limbo While Completing My Latest Novel

Writing ProcessWow. It’s been a while. I feel like I’ve been in a sort of limbo while completing my latest novel–an apocalyptic thriller.

I’m holding off on revealing the title of this one simply because it may change when it’s published. In fact, since the beginning of this story’s writing, the title has changed at least twice. This latest novel is the first in an envisioned series which I’m calling The Eschatos Chronicles.

The word Eschatos is of Greek origin and the root word for eschatology–which is a noun found in theology, meaning:

1. any system of doctrines concerning last, or final, matters, as death, the Judgment, the future state, etc.
2. the branch of theology dealing with such matters.
For some reason, I love this study of theology. One of my favorite books in the Bible is The Revelation of Jesus Christ written by John. Scholars are not sure which John but think the author couldn’t be John the Baptist, because of evidence that the book was written after Jesus was crucified and during Nero’s rule–from A.D. 64 to A.D. 68 (when Nero committed suicide).
revelation-981662_960_720The author of Revelation was so known for his spiritual authority that he didn’t feel the need to identify himself in the book’s writing. Therefore, the author could be the Apostle John.
That said, the entire book is mysterious–from the author who wrote it to its mystical content. The imagery contained in this book is enough to make me want to write of things found in it for the rest of my life. Each time I delve in to Revelation some new phrase or meaning pops out at me. Is that logos? The divine word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ? Or, is it that I simply breezed over the same phrase while reading before?
four horsemen of the apocalypseEither way, Revelation–which isn’t an easy undertaking to get through–stirs something in me so deeply that I’m moved to pick up my pen!
So, your turn… what’s your favorite book of The Bible? What makes you want to pick up the pen and write?
